Leelanau Adventures

Our "home" for the weekend.

Leelanau Lighthouse

The first day we were there we went to a lighthouse called Grand Traverse Lighthouse. It was really cool. All or the rooms of the lighthouse were like little exhibits. We got to climb up to the top. It was really high with barely any room to move. We got plastic pirates treasure on the way out. There was a fog horn house too but that was closed.

A Hike in Leelanau State Park

After the lighthouse we went on an almost three mile hike. First we went down to the beach to look for Petoskey stones. We didn't find any. On that hike we ate Spruce tips. They're VERY bitter. Next we went to an overlook that looked out over Lake Michigan. I almost fell asleep on a bench. Then we hiked back to the car.

Around Northport

After the hike we went to Northport. It's a cute little town. First we went to a baby shop to look for a Lovie for my new baby cousin. We couldn't find one so we went down the street for ice cream. I got the best raspberry sorbet I'd every had. We went to a park to eat our ice cream. After I had finished I went to play. The playset was SUPER! It was like American Ninja Warriors.

South Manitou Island

The next day we took a ferry out to South Manitou Island. We hiked for the whole day! We saw a lighthouse and an old village. We got our junior ranger books too. It was super cool but our legs we REALLY tired. At the end of the day the ferry brought us back to shore. I fell asleep on the ride.

I enjoyed this trip. It felt like Michigan.
