The Maine Adventure!

Day 1: Trip to Morris Organic Farm

We got up in the morning and packed up. We drove for 6 1/2 hours. On that drive we did dress up dolls, watched movies, and did a lesson on moon phases with Oreos. We did a devotion in the morning too. I was so bored in the car and my butt hurt a lot. After a long, long time we arrived at Morris Organic Farm. We got ice cream, breakfast sausage, blueberry jam, raw milk, and a free leftover peach pie from the farmer's market. We had pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. Then we went on a walk. We found some sumac. After the walk we had pie and ice cream. We played some card games then went to bed. Wait, one thing I forgot was it was pouring rain most of the day.

Day 2: Chocolate World & Bent Limb Alpaca Farm

We woke up at Morris Organic Farm and got on the road. We drove for 2 or 3 hours. We were driving through a town called Hershey. Guess what! We went to Chocolate World! We first went to Chocolate Town to eat lunch. I got a salad and apple juice. Then we went back to Chocolate World. We went on a chocolate tour and we rode in a Reese's cup. We went down a path and a guide explained how Hershey's made their chocolate. There were little illusions that made it look like chocolate was actually being made. Then we went to chocolate school. The teacher made a lot of mistakes. Then a chocolate guy came and we got to go to a secret lab. We made a gross, non-edible chocolate bar. We read some instructions and then made a perfect chocolate bar. During this we got to eat a lot of chocolate.

Day 3: Red Apple Farm

We woke up at Bent Limb Alpaca Farm with Yuri staring at us. Yuri is a male pig at the farm. We got on the road. We went through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. This is where Red Apple Farm is. We got flavored honey sticks from their store. I got a blueberry and green apple. They were really good. We checked out the goats and then went to dinner. I had mac-n-cheese and an apple cider slushy. The slushy was good! Then we went on a hike. We thought it was going to be an easy 1 1/2 mile hike. There were apples as trail markers. We hiked along a stream for a while and then there was a swamp. then we kind of got lost.

Day 4: At Maine

We woke up at Red Apple Farm. The night before we got apple cinnamon doughnuts and in the car we ate them and did a devotion. We drove for about 3 hours. We arrived in Maine and stopped at a visitors center to get some information. We drove for a little bit more and arrived at Acadia National Park campground. We had to check in. We have the 4th grader Nation Park pass. for the check-in I had to get out of the car and I had to write my name on a card. The park ranger talked to me about things I can't remember. He told me to get a specific map of Acadia. So we set up and then drove drove into a little town called Southwest Harbor. We got the waterproof version of the map at a store called Quietside Gift Shop. Then we went back to the camper and ate dinner. It was raining so we didn't have a fire. We went inside the camper and slid my retainer case across the table. Then we played Kissy Scwabler. This is a game where my sisters try to kiss my face and I push them away. Mom calmed us down with Oreos and then Dad just got us riled up again so we just went to bed.

Finally arriving in Maine!

Day 5: A Busy Day

First we climbed Beech Mountain and Beech Cliff. Those were both relatively easy hikes. On Beech Mountain we saw so many wild blueberries! There were very yummy. This hike was mostly rocks and trees. Then we hiked Beech Cliff. This one was not as many rocks and not as many blueberries. This was just a little loop. It was really easy. Then we went to the Halls Cove Visitor Center and got our Junior Ranger books and got a stamp. Then we drove Park Loop for the first time. We got a stamp at Sieur de Monts Nature Center. We walked around the visitor center and the garden. We got a stamp at Thunder Hole. Thunder Hole is cool. 2 or 3 hours before high tide water shoots in the air. Too bad we didn't get to see it. Then we went back to the camp site and had dinner. Then I gathered a bunch of sticks and Mom and Dad picked out wands. We also played toy campers with some of our campground neighbors. Then we went to bed.

Day 6: Tired Legs

We got up early to do beehive. On this hike there were a lot of ladders. We went down to a lake and had a little break. This hike was pretty scary. There was almost nowhere to move and we were really high up in the air. We made our way back to the car. On the way back to the camper we stopped at Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound. I ordered popcorn shrimp. While we waited for our food we visited some goats, played whiffle ball, and rode on stick ponies from the stick horse stables. We went back to the campsite and finished our Junior Ranger books. We interviewed a ranger to finish our books. The ranger said his favorite hike was Acadia Mountain. Then we were sworn in as Junior Rangers. We got our badges! Then we went on a hike at Acadia Mountain. Our legs were so sore and it thunderstormed. The rocks were so slippery, but luckily there were no injuries except sore butts. Then we went back to the camper. First we made a stop at an ice cream shop. I got Fly Fishing something. It had M&Ms and cookie dough. Then we had dinner even though I wasn't very hungry.

In the morning we packed up to drive over to Hadley's Point. It was only about a 1/2 hour drive. Then Mom and Dad had to do laundry so we stayed with Mr. Josh and Mrs. Courtney, Alton, Laurel, Walker, and Ellie. These are our old friends from Missouri that we never get to see. We rode our bikes and did a little craft and then we rode our bikes again. Mom and Dad came back from doing laundry so we had to go help fold it. Then we had tacos for dinner. I had 2 and then a lot of chips. It was fun getting to see our friends!

Day 8: A Really Rainy Day

We had a slow morning. Then we went to Bar Harbor. On the drive I found an inchworm on my bug bracelet. It was the tiniest inchworm ever and my bug bracelet wasn't really effective. We went to a farmers market. It was really busy and we didn't get anything. We walked through Bar Harbor. Then we drove the Park Loop again but with everyone. Everyone includes Mr. Josh, Mrs. Courtney, Alton, Laurel, Mr. Brian, Mrs. Amanda, Mr. Kevin, Mrs. Amanda, Walker, Ellie, and us. We stopped at Jordan Pond and it was pouring rain! We got a new sweatshirt because it was freezing. It's purple and really fluffy. We waited about a hour and a half for lunch. We went to a restaurant at Jordan Pond. I got a side Caesar salad, iced blueberry tea, and two popovers. Popovers are giant dough balls. Then we went back to the campground and hid from the rain. We had seafood roast for dinner. It was delicious!

Day 9: Sir Hikesalot

We got up and did Cadillac North Ridge trail. We hiked to the top and we thought we saw the summit, but it wasn't. We stopped at the gift shop to get our stamps and then we had a snack. We finally found the summit. It wasn't very exciting. It was only a rock. We talked to a park ranger. He helped us find Gorge Path. This was a beautiful path. We walked along a stream for a while. We named it Bumhoffer River. We crossed back and forth across the river. To get back to the car we had to go under a really pretty bridge. We hiked a few more minutes and then we were at the truck. This was about a 6 mile hike. Then we went back to the camper and Dad blew up our paddle boards. We went for a ride in the ocean. I went with Mom and Jade and my sisters went with Dad. I took A LOT of pictures while we did this. We went back to the campground. We had pretzel bun sliders and roasted smores around the fire.

Day 10: A Day on the Water

We woke up and walked around Bar Harbor. We got lunch at a place called The Stadium. I got mac-n-cheese. While we were waiting for our food we went to their gift shop. They have two 5 pound lobsters. The were HUGE! Then we went to pick up our food. We ate lunch in the park. Then we went back up and got ice cream. Well, I got sorbet. We got back in the car to go to the dock where our boat was leaving from. We were going on an Acadian nature cruise. It was almost two hours long. We saw porpoises and seals and we thought we saw a tiny whale. I enjoyed this ride. Then we went to the store because we were making dinner for everyone that night. We got stuff to have a make-your-own-pizza line. After dinner we painted stepping stones. I made a ladybug.

Pictures with the ice cream lobster for the other girls, lunch in Agamont Park in Bar Harbor, nature cruise (seals on the rocks), and stepping stone painting

Day 11: On the Island

We had a slow morning. I read in Mom and Dad's bed with Jade. Then my sisters climbed up. We went into Bar Harbor. Then we crossed over to Bar Island. We looked in tide pools. We found shells and alive sand dollars. We looked for sea stars but didn't find one. We ate lunch on the island. We looked at tide pools on the island but they weren't very good. Then we went back. On the way back we looked for another starfish. But we didn't see one. On the way back to the car we got ice cream. I got pineapple pimento sorbet. Then we went to the beach by the campground. We saw a JELLYFISH!!! There were a lot of shells too. Then we went to the last group dinner. We had Calamari. Avery thought it was chicken. For my main course I had Haddock and chips. I had blueberry lemonade. It was sad to leave them.

Walk across the sandbar (rockbar) to Bar Island, jellyfish on the shore near the campground, dinner with the gang at Testa's in Bar Harbor

Day 12: What Kind of Beast are You?!?

We woke up at Hadley's Point Campground. We got all packed up to hit the road. We drove about 6 1/2 to 7 hours that day. It was SUPER boring. We stopped at our destination. It was the Fieldhouse in Canaan, New York. From the outside it looked like a GIANT warehouse. On the inside it was all turf. It was a HUGE soccer field. Too bad we didn't have a soccer ball. Then we played Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (a.k.a. What kind of beast are you?!). This is a game where I turn into a beast and my sisters have to figure out what I am without getting killed! Then we had pizza for dinner. Next, we made up songs and pretended we were a band. Then Dad turned on KidsBop music so we had a dance party. After that we went and checked out our neighbors Grand Design 5th wheel. Then it was bed time.

Day 13: A Night with Little Sleep

We woke up at the Fieldhouse. We drove 6 1/2 hours to Buccia winery. Where we parked was REALLY sandy. We played wings of fire. It's a book that we turned into a game. It's about dragons. We went to check out the building. They had pizzas and charcuterie boards with meat and cheese and crackers. We watched some live music too. Then we went back to the camper and played more wings of fire. They were trying to get fuzzy plants from me and I was an evil dragon who ruled the world. We were settled right next to a train track so every few hours we would wake up to the sound of a horn. I was tired the next morning.

Day 14: Back Home

This drive was about the same as all the other drives home. We woke up at Buccia winery. On our way out we saw a passenger train! We drove about 5 1/2 to 6 hours. Finally, we were back in Wayland! We were so happy to be home after many hours of driving, but also very happy thinking about going back some day. Maine was beautiful! I want to go back!
